About ESPA

Through entry-level education and certification, we put electronic systems technicians (ESTs) on the right career path and help them take control of their professional lives.

As a professional-based organization, we represent technicians – the workers that are installing, maintaining, and upgrading 21st century technology. As an independent alliance, we work with several key trade associations and welcome other organizations and businesses from the electronic systems industry to become our affiliates and help advance our mission of providing high-quality, entry-level education and certification.

Long-time industry educators and innovators from numerous organizations created our core curriculum which covers five key domains: electrical basics; tools; construction methods and materials; wiring and installation practices; and standards, codes, and safety practices. The ESPA Certified-EST® credential and the accompanying program set the standard for entry-level ESTs.

Our certification applies to many technology career verticals including residential and commercial A/V, computers, lighting, automation controls, security, alarm, telecom, cable, satellite, and green technologies, plus many general sectors (including architecture, engineering, and building trades) whose workers would benefit from learning entry-level EST skills.

Certification gives a sense of professionalism, dedication, and technical excellence and begins a lifelong commitment to training to help an EST be in charge of his/her constantly evolving electronics career.

Companies with certified ESTs gain from increased productivity, enhanced reputations, and a reduced turnover rate. Moreover, since ESPA certified workers have diverse skills, companies now can expand into different industry sectors.
